The Story

The Living Past is the light from the stars that continue to shine despite the fact they are long-extinguished. Channeling the spirit of kids who paint their faces to play at indians, this is an album about never giving up on believing in one’s dreams.

Lyrics

Loner VS Lover

I’ve caught a suspicious mouse
I should shut it out, shut it out
Right on
Right on

Still I can hear it loud and clear
Talking, annoying my ears
Beyond the walls, from the lock of the door

CHORUS
I’m a loner, whatcha gonna do about it?
Pretty often sitting in my room in silence
What is up with me? Spacing from society

I’ve framed my presumptuous frown
To wear and reveal doubts
Mine and yours, might be physiological

I got also one if I want to brood
Jump in a bad mood or when I’m misunderstood
How many more flaws? Wanna know them all?

CHORUS

And a complainer, what about that too darling?
If it gets a burden, you can say I’m high maintenance
Like at open sea, I’m losing connectivity

I could spend hours talking about my flaws
But honestly, I don’t think it’s useful at all
Actually, it’s not even very attractive, right?
Trust me, I’m aware of my negative sides

The ones I selfishly leave as they are, which is always good
The ones instead I work hard, every day, to improve
In the end though, I hope you see what I can give
I’ll say this only if you don’t take me as a narcissist

I can be respectful, romantic, loyal
Doing my best to make you feel special
Be sexy, silly, both at the same time
Not ashamed to ask you to console me when I cry

I’d like to confess to you my fears, no matter if they’re deep
The strong man isn’t the one that’s never weak
I can be a partner, a sincere friend
A passionate lover, a confidant

The person who listens and you can count on
Who’s there for you, even from far away with his thought
Maybe it’s too much, I see
So please be honest to yourself when I ask you this:

Would you like to be my world?

I’m a loner, whatcha gonna do about it?
I’m a lover, whatcha gonna do about it?

The Living Past

Friend, stop for a moment
And watch from this corner
They’ve all moved up
But eyes are dull

They long for a treasure
We know how to really measure
We played the same
Exact same games

CHORUS
We’re the last remaining
Just refraining
Or left behind as we’ve always been

From our childhood, with every single bruise…

Supposed to behave
Someone now might not see it that way
Maybe due to regrets
With no turning back

So they can only incite us
Frequent ritual
We let them incite us
And feel that they belong

CHORUS

From our childhood, with every single bruise
We’ll be the symbol, that’s our call
Let’s make our Mohawks and die as Indians
Gonna be beautiful, facing extinction
Fighting for ideals

CHORUS

Their past still living
Like in a painting
We remind them of the fantasies

From our childhood, with every single bruise
We’ll be the symbol, that’s our call
Let’s make our Mohawks and die as Indians
Gonna be beautiful, facing extinction
Fighting for ideals

Eternal Ride of a Heartful Mind

Although your mind is under siege
And their advice is misconceived

Please keep your heart out of the fight
Or truth will not be worth the ride

They say it was a rash choice
Not everybody sees the point

Life may lead the way
Love will give you shape

CHORUS
Let’s hit the road, it’s winding down
Have we lost control?
Are the seatbelts on?
Should we slow, slow it down?
Are we going too fast? And she said:
As fast as our feelings…

When distance tries to pull the strings
Cling on to something real within

‘Cause you were told you’re not alike
We both know opposites collide

Maybe this will be too much
It’s just a temporary crush

(Let the river flow, let it roll
Through your soul)

Life may lead the way
Love will give you shape

CHORUS

Grow
Till we cannot even shout
Do you expect to fall?
Is the warning light on?
Should we slow, slow it down?
Are we going too fast? And she said:
As fast as our feelings…

As our feelings grow

CHORUS
Let’s hit the road, it’s winding down
Have we lost control?
Are the seatbelts on?
Should we slow, slow it down?
Are we going too fast? And she said:
As fast as our feelings…

Free my head, bring me up, take away my breath
I would do it again and again and all over again
Every curve, every blur, every swirl

Sublunary

We destroy our land for you
If we can, we’ll eat it too
For now we look away
From the blue, the green, the grey

(Grab the telescope)
There’s a lunar desert hidden on earth
(I swear it’s no joke)
If we only cared, we would…

CHORUS
Deserve the rays of today
Gotta keep ’em safe
The blue, the green, the grey

Giant rocks above the sea
More ancient than humanity
Barely cry some cold cascades
From what little ice remains

(Send out a space probe)
We have a lunar desert hidden on earth
(I swear it’s no joke)
That is getting closer in the mist, right under our chin
(Is it the planet we want for our kids?)

CHORUS
Preserve the rays of today
Gotta keep ’em safe
The blue, the green, the grey
1000 things you have to see, I’m sure
We’re our own remedy, our own cure

Norwegian Fjords, Grand Canyon
Scottish fields, Italian hills
1000 things that are drying off
Before they fall

What if you could choose to put an end to this doom?
Would it be you?

CHORUS
Preserve the rays of today
1000 things you have to see, I’m sure
We’re our own remedy, our own cure
The blue, the green, the grey

Dusty Shelves

So many words were left unsaid
You silently slipped out of my bed
I wanted to follow your tracks
But you stole all the places we had

You told me that
I was alone before we met
That’s why I’ll be fine without you there
Again reenacting my past
Really believing we were meant to last

CHORUS
What have you done to me?
What have you done to me?
You think you know
But you don’t know me at all
What have you done to me?
What have you done to me?

Within a hollow house I stayed
When you tore down the home we had made
Habits no longer make sense
Now I lost all that you represent

Everyone has
Some inner parts of themselves
To put aside on the dusty shelves
I guess you let go of my hand
It was me falling down through the cracks

CHORUS

You think you know
But you don’t know me at all
Overnight you raised a wall

CHORUS

You don’t know me at all
Overnight you raised a wall
Not a chance for me to talk
You just moved on

Being Hurt

Being hurt, being hurt
Sure thing you need to learn
Being hurt by her

Being hurt, vulnerable
Once you fall in love

An arrow in flames
Ignites the pain
No getting used to
When your heart’s the aim

Being hurt, being hurt

CHORUS
For quite some time
I’ve been losing, been craving sleep
To rest my mind
From the nightmares I have lately
For quite some time
I’ve been losing, been craving sleep
I visualize…

Though I cope
It hurts, it hurts me so

Being hurt, being hurt
How trust sometimes works
Being hurt by her

Being hurt, heavy stone
Lying on your breastbone

Just a wave
To wash away
A castle of sand
Yes that’s all it takes

Being hurt, being hurt

CHORUS

The day she will replace me with him

For quite some time
Being hurt
To rest my mind
Being hurt
For quite some time
Being hurt
I visualize…

Though I cope
It hurts, it hurts me so

How deep will she hurt me?
(I can be aware, more and more prepared)
How deep will she cut me?
(But what I have to bear is beyond compare)
How deep will she hurt me?
(Scars on my skin)
How deep will she cut me?
(Which are still bleeding)
How deep will she hurt me?
(And never fully heal)
How deep will she cut me?

Mount Bonnell

So many times we talk about our dreams
Our marriage on a shore, sky-lanterns flying off
Down the aisle we promise to stay still
When life happens, oh life does happen

Babe, keep me up tonight
Until the moment’s right
Babe, keep me up tonight
Until the twilight

CHORUS
Our bodies warming the blanket
Hills under the sunset

First date and how we met
The famous strike of the lightning
A story we’re proud to tell
We consider it a blessing
That out there it feels less frightening
‘Cause we’re not alone for the journey

CHORUS
Our bodies warming the blanket
Hills under the sunset
The river is sparkling with light
Tears filling up my eyes
Please don’t make a movement
I don’t wanna lose this
Oh this, this is heaven in a whisper

I’ll wait for you, if now you have to go
I’ll wait through the wind, the rain, the storm
I’ll wait for you to join again the future we drew

It’s not fading, nobody can steal it
No matter how far, it sticks to my heart

I’ll wait in the dark, during the whole eclipse
I’ll wait for you to join again the picture we took

Don't Hope, Believe

Don’t hope, believe that…

You will connect the dots
Draw the hidden key
It doesn’t mean you’ve lost
When you’re on your knees

CHORUS
Just follow your dreams

You never get too old
To live up in the trees
Where the stars are so close
That you can feel their beam through the leaves

CHORUS
Just follow your dreams
And your show, your own show will begin
Just follow your dreams
And your show, your own show will begin

Don’t hope, believe
